directors and playwrights to audit the sessions to learn more about our actor members.

JULIE KRAMER  - 1st session: PREFERS TO SEE THEATRE SIDES (as opposed to monologues) from modern/contemporary plays.  She will supply material for 2nd session.  Julie directed her adaptation of the Rona Jaffe bestseller THE BEST OF EVERYTHING, which was a Critic’s Pick by The New York Times and Time Out New York and is published by Dramatists’ Play Service.   Recent directing includes IF ON A WINTER’S NIGHT by Bixby Eliot (The Tank), SANTA DOESN'T COME TO THE HOLIDAY INN by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder (Ensemble Studio Theatre Marathon),  AND...ACTION by Eleanor Burgess (Keen Company), and OUTSIDE MULLINGAR (The Pioneer Theatre, Salt Lake City).  Other directing includes PEARL'S GONE BLUE (Best Musical FringeNYC), HILLARY (New Georges), NONE OF THE ABOVE (The Lion),  and multiple shows at Uprights Citizens Brigade and the HBO/Aspen Comedy Festival.  She has developed new work at New Dramatists, The Public Theater, Ensemble Studio Theatre, The New York Musical Festival, The New Group, The Directors Company, Juilliard, The Dorset Theatre Festival, and The O’Neill Center. She has also directed for NYU/Strasberg and teaches Advanced Directing at The Tepper Semester/Syracuse University.   Julie is a Member of SDC, where she also serves on the Political Action Committee. www.juliekramerdirector.com

JOE WARD:  Requested material: THEATRE SIDES OR MONOLOGUES that, if possible, you have used recently or plan to use for an audition.    (IF POSSIBLE, Joe would like you to send him a copy of the material and let him know if you plan to use it for a specific audition, and if you have already used it for an audition, did you get the part?  I will send everyone Joe’s contact info after the month begins and you have signed up for the session.)

As a freelance director based in New York City, Joe has directed new plays for Theater Masters; Slant Theater; Ars Nova; College of Staten Island; and Williamstown Theater Festival, as well as classics for The Atlantic Theater Acting School; Studio Tisch/NYU; and Creede Repertory Theater. He has assisted Athol Fugard (Signature); Scott Ellis (Roundabout); Anthony Page (Signature); Des McAnuff (La Jolla Playhouse); Darko Tresnjak (Old Globe); and Kyle Donnelly (Williamstown). He directs audiobooks for Penguin Random House. Joe has an MFA in Directing from UCSD and is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the theater department at CUNY LaGuardia Community College. For 11 years Joe has directed The Disney ABC Talent Development and Diversity Showcase.
